Injured by Vioxx?
Vioxx has been linked to an increased risk of heart attack, stroke and blood clots.
The popular arthritis drug Vioxx was voluntarily removed from the market in 2004 after trials demonstrated a dramatically increased risk of serious cardiovascular problems like heart attack, stroke and blood clots.
FDA had warned manufacturer
Three years prior to Vioxx's removal from the market, the American Heart Association asked the drug's manufacturer, Merck & Co., to find out whether the drug increased the risk of heart attack and stroke. When Merck reported that it had found no evidence of increased risk, the Food and Drug Administration warned the company to stop promoting Vioxx to doctors for unapproved uses. A year later, the FDA required new labeling and warnings for the drug, based on the findings of clinical studies.
